Why study Guidance, Counselling and Careers?

This field provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that are essential for today's professional guidance counsellors and career development practitioners. This specially designed program of study allows students to develop competencies as professional guidance counsellors and/or career practitioners for employment in schools, TAFE colleges, agencies, or as private practitioners. The program focuses on:

  • developing counselling competencies
  • understanding career development and education across the life-span
  • linking assessment practices to instructional interventions
  • understanding ethical behaviour and practices
  • developing comprehensive guidance programs.

It is suggested that students enrol in EDUC7011/7012 if they are seeking to work as a guidance and careers counsellor.

Commonwealth Supported Places are available for Australian citizens, permanent visa holders, and New Zealand citizens.
