Why study Fire Safety Engineering?

The MEngSc (Fire Safety Engineering) aims to deliver fire safety practitioners with a wide range of engineering, architectural and scientific backgrounds, the necessary skills and knowledge to develop a comprehensive Fire Safety Strategy for a wide range of applications in which fire safety considerations must be contemplated. The new plan will cover all requirements of a Fire Safety Engineering degree, introducing core concepts in the assessment and delivery of a fire safety strategy, together with emerging directions and innovative practices. Students will learn to locate, interpret, synthesise and apply information from a variety of sources. Graduates will demonstrate specialised knowledge in fire safety engineering across a broad range of areas including fire dynamics, fire protection systems, egress and fire safety legislation.

Commencement in the Fire Safety Engineering major is only available in Semester 1.
