Why study Film and Television Studies?

Film and Television Studies will teach you how to analyse and evaluate films and TV programs from the classics to the latest Netflix offerings. It will give you a grounding in the history and aesthetics of these popular art forms, their relations to technological, industrial, and cultural change, and their capacity to tell stories, move viewers, and reveal aspects of the world to us. Studying Film and Television at UQ will equip you with transferable visual literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills essential for a flexible career path in an increasingly media-rich world. Career prospects vary depending on your larger program of study and your individual aptitude and interests. Choose from film festivals and art galleries, film promotion, film and TV reviewing and criticism, screen writing, screen funding organisations, publicity, marketing, production companies, cultural policy, and education.
