Course description
Students are introduced to the broad range of analytical, mathematical and computational tools employed by scientists to analyse, interpret and manage models of scientific processes. A number of key contemorary issues in science will be studied, including climate change, population dynamics, human genome analysis, epidemics and motion. Students will also be introduced to some basic debates in the philosophy of science and will thus gain an appreciation of some of the philosophical assumptions that underlie science and reinforce quantitative & scientific skills.
