Course description

This interactive course is designed to introduce students to the history, principles, central concepts and theories of health promotion in the context of public health. Students will gain an understanding of how to identify health promotion priorities and strategies across the disease prevention continuum from local to global. Frameworks for health promotion action will be presented, so that students gain an understanding of the scope of health promotion. Students will be introduced to the basic theories of communication and the role communication skills play in health promotion action. This course has been designed to engage and challenge students in critical thinking, which is fundamental to health promotion. This course is only available to students enrolled in Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
