Course description
(offered in odd years only) It will be shown how the electronic properties of crystals can be understood in terms of quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics. What distinguishes metals, semiconductors, and insulators? The course will be useful to students in physics, chemistry, and materials and electrical engineering.
