Course description

In this course students will examine the social contexts of health and develop an awareness and understanding of indigenous history, cultural values and diversity. Students will acquire knowledge of the prevalence and risk factors for a range of indigenous health issues identified by population based studies and learn about strategies which may be implemented by communities to promote the health of indigenous people. The legal and ethical issues associated with providing care for indigenous people with health issues are also addressed.
