Course description

This course provides students with a thorough understanding of community issues associated with mineral resource developments. It provides context and examples to demonstrate how the industry response to these issues has changed over time. It introduces the topics of community development, community engagement and indigenous issues which are further explored in subsequent courses. The bulk of this course will be taught in intensive mode via a five day workshop to be held at the St Lucia campus in March, with the remainder delivered remotely during the rest of the semester. The course has a quota of 35 places, and preference will be given to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Community Relations (Resources Sector) program.
