Course description
Lagrangian formulation of Newtonian mechanics; Hamiltonian formalism: the Poisson bracket, canonical transformations; integrable systems: Liouville Arnold theorem; canonical perturbation theory; order and chaos in Hamiltonian systems: the KAM theorem, twist maps. Ergodic theory: basic concepts and examples; ergodic theorems and applications; entropy. (offered in odd-numbered years)
