Course description

This course is not offered in 2012.

This course is designed to introduce students to the diverse range of issues and processes related to the operation of sport and recreation organisations and related venues. Over the course of the semester, students will develop an appreciation of a range of basic designs, models and processes that are used by management of such services to ensure high levels of efficiency and effectiveness whilst still maintaining service standards. These standards are key considerations for sport and recreation managers intent on meeting the expressed needs of an increasingly discerning range of stakeholders. By necessity therefore, the course will also introduce students to the methods used for evaluating operations in the sport and recreation sector with a view to assessing the extent to which operations are achieving their goals and operational objectives.
