Course description

Only Human Service students who have completed the required prerequisites can enrol in this course that provides students with an orientation to the human service industry and the organisational context of practice. Students undertake 165 hours of on-the-job observation and professional training under the supervision of an experienced practitioner within a human service organisation. The course enables students to test out a broad range of classroom teaching in prerequisite courses under supervised conditions. In addition, students are required to attend mandatory university workshops, devise a personalised learning plan with their supervisor and undertake assessment tasks which require students to reflect on their emerging professional identity, professional and ethical conduct, frameworks for practice and suitability for different areas of human service practice.
