Course description
This course introduces students to theories of learning and teaching mathematics in the MYS (including junior secondary school), and develops practical skills relating to mathematics lesson planning, curriculum design and assessment. Future teachers of mathematics will frame and undertake practice-based curricular tasks establishing strategies for teaching and assessment that enhance students' connected mathematics knowledge and positive disposition towards mathematics learning. They will become familiar with current syllabus documents related to MYS mathematics, and the philosophy and research-derived principles upon which they are based. Please note: In semester 2, the course will run with a one hour tutorial only. There will be no lecture.
