Course description

Teaching is a multi-faceted profession. Becoming a teacher requires commitment and dedication to lifelong learning and personal growth through reflection. This course provides an introduction to school life through workshops and school visits. Observing practice and learning from others provides the opportunity for personal development and growth. Therefore the focus of this course is on the development of observation skills and the importance of communication in a school context. This course is developmental and links to EDUC2712, EDUC2714, EDUC3714 and EDUC4714, providing a basis for the subsequent courses. The course will also build on and incorporate knowledge developed across the first year of the Bachelor of Education program.
