Course duration

This is a year long course. It commences in Semester 1, 2016 and completes in Semester 2, 2016.

Course description

Students will gain in-depth supervised practice experience in an agency setting, either government or non-government. In the practicum, students will have the opportunity to apply counselling theory, knowledge and skills with clients. To pass this course, students must demonstrate competency in counselling within a range of presenting issues and demonstrate critical reflection on knowledge of theory and issues related to counselling practice and supervision. Students are to contact the Field Education Unit (fielded@uq.edu.au) for a pre-placement interview in October of the preceding year for semester 1 commencement and April of the same year for semester 2 commencement. Students undertake COUN7020 as a year long course in their final year of study. Contact hours consist of 1 x pre-placement workshop, 6 x full day workshops, and placement hours (undertaken during the year long course code).
