Course description
CIVL3210 will teach you how to apply your knowledge of fundamental soil mechanics to the analysis and design of structures very commonly required in nearly all infrastructure development such as small and large buildings, road and highway construction, and wharf and port structures. Also this course will teach you to how to assess the stability of natural and man-made slopes in order to control and reduce the chance of loss of property and life due to a landslide. The course will address the analysis and design of Earth pressure; retaining walls; basement excavations; bearing capacity; shallow footings; domestic footings; piled footings; settlement of footings; slope stability.
